Alia Bhatt wears saree made of Swarovski crystals for Cannes closing ceremony

Bollywood beauty Alia Bhatt had her showstopper moment at the 78th Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony. The actor graced the finale red carpet at the French Riviera in a Gucci saree embellished with Swarovski crystals. She let her hair down and accessorised with a dainty necklace and studs. Her makeup was minimal, with dewy skin and natural glow accentuating the glam.

For her Cannes debut, Alia Bhatt stunned in a Schiaparelli gown. She walked the iconic red carpet in an off-shoulder outfit made in ecru Chantilly lace, with organza and enamel flowers embroidered on the bodice. The custom soft nude bodycon version, which was elevated with tulle ruffles at the hem, received a thumbs up from fashionistas. Alia was styled by Rhea Kapoor. Her hair was in a neat bun with edges in a unique pattern. For the makeup, she kept it dewy and radiant.

Ahead of her debut, Alia had shared, “There`s something absolutely special about firsts — and I`m so excited to make my Festival de Cannes debut this year, an iconic celebration of cinema and self-expression. It is such an honour to represent L`Oréal Paris at the Festival with this year`s theme, `Lights, Beauty and Action`. To me, beauty is about celebrating individuality, confidence, and self-worth. It`s limitless, it`s unique. I`m proud to stand with a brand that celebrates every woman`s journey and empowers them to shine in their own light.”

Why Alia Bhatt missed the Cannes 2025 opening ceremony 

For those unversed, Alia Bhatt had decided to skip the Cannes 2025 opening ceremony last minute, owing to the sensitive situation across the country in the aftermath of the India-Pakistan conflict. “As the L`Oreal ambassador, Alia was supposed to make her Cannes debut. She was slated to attend the grand opening ceremony on May 13, for which she had to fly over the weekend. But in the current times of geopolitical tension between India and Pakistan, she wanted to express solidarity with the country and decided against going,” a source had informed Mid-day.

Alia Bhatt`s work front 

Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia is busy filming her upcoming movie Alpha. Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha is set to be a notable addition to Yash Raj Films` acclaimed spy universe and is scheduled for release on December 25. It also stars Sharvari as the parallel lead and Bobby Deol as a menacing antagonist. 

She also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali`s Love and War with Ranbir and Vicky Kaushal. Alia earlier collaborated with Bhansali in the 2022 drama Gangubai Kathiawadi. This will be her second collaboration with Ranbir after Brahmastra, as well as Vicky after Raazi.
