Ajiths Good Bad Ugly: Low buzz, no publicity

Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly is slated to hit the cinemas on April 10th. The big-ticket movie will be released simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. Its Hindi release will just be a formality.

There is no reason to believe that an Ajith movie doesn’t deserve any kind of publicity in Telugu. Granted that Ajith’s movies have been on the downhill, both content and business wise, in Telugu, for many years now. But Good Bad Ugly was seen as an exception because Mythri Movie Makers, the prominent Tollywood banner, has bankrolled it.

Ideally, producers Y Ravi Shankar and Naveen Yerneni should have taken the movie’s promotions as a matter of prestige in Telugu. After the failure of Nithiin’s Robinhood, they are maintaining a low profile. If the Telugu promotions of Good Bad Ugly don’t take off in a couple of days, it would mean Mythri has given up on the movie.

Ajith’s previous release, Vidaa Muyaarchi, was a disaster. The aesthetics and visuals of Good Bad Ugly are unsuited for the tastes and sensibilities of the Telugu audience. Will GBU be another Vidaa Muyaarchi?
