Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan recently attended the birth centenary celebration of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, where she delivered a moving speech on caste and religion. A video of hers went viral on social media where she can be heard talking about the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The actress, in her speech, promoted unity and stated, “There is only one caste, the caste of humanity. There is only one religion, the religion of love. There is only one language, the language of the heart, and there is only one God, and he is omnipresent.”
She added, “Swami once said, ‘Education should not be for a living, but it is and should be for life.’ The Sri Sathya Sai Baba education system is a shining example of this truth. From Bal Vikas programs to value-based schools, colleges, and even a free multidisciplinary university serving thousands of students every year free of cost, without discrimination and rooted in values.”
For the occasion, the actress donned a stunning yellow ensemble with free-flowing tresses, heavy earrings and minimal makeup. The celebrations took place in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. The event was also graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sachin Tendulkar, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu and G. Kishan Reddy, among others.
This year, the actress also made a striking appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. She wore a Kadwa ivory Benarasi handloom saree from Manish Malhotra’s collection and paired it with heirloom high jewellery from the ace designer’s collection. In another appearance, the actress wore ‘Heiress of Clam’, a custom creation imagined in a draped form and spiritual detail. It featured an abstract rendition of the cosmos in bursts of silver, gold, charcoal, and black. The same was accented with micro glass crystals to capture dimension and light.
