Actor Aishwarya Lekshmi surprised fans over the weekend by announcing that she has permanently stepped away from Instagram. Sharing a heartfelt note on her Stories before deactivating her account, the Thug Life star admitted that while she once thought social media was indispensable to her career, it had slowly begun to drain her creativity.

Breaking Up With the ‘Gram’

“For years, I believed being visible online was the only way to stay relevant in the game,” she wrote. But over time, she noticed how the app crept into her personal and professional space. She described how constant scrolling left her distracted from research, stripped her of original thoughts, and even dulled her command over language. What troubled her most was how it robbed joy from life’s simplest pleasures.

Choosing Silence Over Noise

In the note, Aishwarya acknowledged that leaving Instagram carries risks, especially for someone in showbiz. “Today’s reality is simple—out of the ‘gram is out of the mind,” she admitted, hinting at the possibility of fading from public memory. Still, she stressed that it was a choice she owed to “the artist and the little girl” within her.

By choosing what she called “absolute internet obsoleteness,” Aishwarya hopes to remain authentic and reconnect with her inner voice. “Here’s to creating more meaningful connections and better cinema,” she concluded, making it clear that her focus now lies in art rather than algorithms.

A Career in Bloom

Since her acting debut in 2017, Aishwarya has become one of the most versatile performers in South Indian cinema. She has delivered acclaimed performances in films such as Mayaanadhi, Ammu, and Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan series. In 2024, she was seen in Ratnam’s action-drama Thug Life, further cementing her standing as a pan-Indian talent.
