Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray on Saturday said after Waqf land, the BJP-led government now aims to grab land of Hindu temples for its “builder friends”.
“Why talk about Waqf alone, see what is happening in Ayodhya. Lodha and Adani are taking lands there. Same is happening in Prayagraj. It might happen in Pandharpur. They (BJP) are already eyeing Church land. They will target land of Buddhists as well,” he said, addressing a press conference in Mumbai.
Aaditya said even Hindus should join the protest against the Waqf Bill. “Tell me one thing that is benefiting Hindus out of it (the Act). Instead our lands will now come in danger. I think even Hindus should join the protests,” he said.
Aaditya also slammed the government saying it has failed to deliver on the promises it made in the first 100 days of its tenure despite the huge majority it won in the election. “We were told about the 100-days programme when this government came to power. What has happened? Failure to give farm loan waiver, resignation of a minister, atrocities against women and incidents like murder of a sarpanch and a Dalit activist in Parbhani. What’s the use of the majority if this government is failing on all counts,” he asked.
