
A Pakistan national from Bharuch district was sent back, and arrangements are being made to send six other Pakistani nationals who had come to Gujarat on visas to Pakistan, as per the decision of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to revoke all visas to Pakistan nationals, effective from April 27.
Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi told The Indian Express, “Acting on the guidelines of Government of India, we have identified seven Pakistani nationals who are in Gujarat on Short Term Visas (STV). We have started procedures of deporting them back to their country. Today, a woman was deported to Pakistan from Gujarat and we have come to know that she has reached her country. We are making attempts to send the remaining ones to Pakistan in the next few days.” The woman had come to Gujarat earlier this month.
Following the terror attack on tourists at Pahalgam in Kashmir, killing 26 persons,the Union government decided to cancel all visas to Pakistanis with effect from April 27 onwards, and medical visas would only be valid until April 29.
Sources said that the State Home department had begun identifying Pakistani nationals who had come down to Gujarat on visas, and have zeroed in on seven, including men and women from the districts of Bharuch, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and others. The local police in each of these districts have been directed to contact them to initiate the deportation process.
