AFK employee framed in cartridge theft by relative, probe reveals | Pune News

The probe by Pune Police following the arrest of an Ammunition Factory Khadki (AFK) employee on charges of stealing live cartridges revealed he was framed by his 43-year-old relative — also an AFK employee — who had planted the cartridges on his bike amid a family dispute after  the latter stole them. The police have arrested the 43-year-old accused relative.

Pune City police had on March 28 recovered 22 live cartridges from scooter Ganesh Vasantrao Borude (39). Officials had said that the recovery and subsequent arrest of Borude was made following an intelligence input.

An officer from Khadki police station said, “Following the arrest of Borude, we started probing various angles and pieced together a sequence of events. Examination of CCTV camera footage and other technical leads revealed Borude’s brother-in-law, Ravindra Ramesh Gore, who is the husband of Borude’s wife’s cousin, had in fact planted the cartridges in Borude’s scooter. Gore, who had access to the cartridges, had stolen them from the AFK.”

The officer said that Gore had been placed under arrest over a week ago and the details of the arrest were shared with the media after the completion of investigation in the case. “Gore is currently in custody while Borude has been granted bail. We will seek discharge of Borude from the case by moving an application before the court,” the officer added.
