Adani Group seeks land from Guj govt for SEZ in Ahmedabad & township in Gandhinagar

Adani Group has sought land parcels from Gujarat government for setting up a new Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Ahmedabad and a township in Gandhinagar, states information tabled by the government in Gujarat legislative assembly. The land parcels sought are in exchange for land held by the company.

Adani Group has sought a total of 29,847 square meters of land in Ahmedabad, stated the state government in a written reply to a question asked by Congress MLA Shailesh Parmar during the Question Hour, Monday. The response from the government stated that in exchange for 33,286 square meters from Survey number 292 of Moje Khodiyar in Daskroi taluka of Ahmedabad, a request from the company is pending for 18,718 square meters from Survey number 329 and 11,129 square meter from survey number 361 totalling to 29,847 square meters. The land sought in Ahmedabad is for a SEZ that the company plans to develop as part of a modern township.

Similarly, Adani Group has sought an additional 63,334 square meters of land to develop a township in Gandhinagar district, the reply added. This land is being sought in exchange for 61,211 square meters of land in Dantali taluka of Gandhinagar. A third request from the Adani group is for acquiring 202 square meter of land in Kalol taluka of Gandhinagar. All the three requests are currently pending with the Gujarat government.

When contacted regarding details of the projects for which the land has been sought from the Gujarat government, a spokesperson of Adani group did not offer any comment or reaction. Adani Group has developed “Adani Shantigram” township on 580 acres in Ahmedabad. According to the company’s website, this integrated township was launched in 2010 and 7,000 families have been given possession in this scheme.
