Acer has joined the club of smart ring manufacturers by introducing the FreeSense Ring at the Computex 2025 show. The company, renowned for its computing devices, has unveiled its first health-tracking smart ring, powered by artificial intelligence features. This isn’t Acer’s first rodeo in the health segment, as the company has released smartwatches and fitness trackers in the past with the Acer Leap range.
Apart from the FreeSense Ring, Acer has also introduced the AI TransBuds, a pair of earbuds that offer real-time AI translation for seamless communications.
Acer’s smart ring offers a “sophisticated” design with advanced biometric sensing
According to Acer, the FreeSense Ring offers a “sophisticated” design with advanced biometric sensing features, apart from ‘AI-enhanced’ wellness insights. The company states that it has crafted the wearable from ultra-light titanium alloy. The device tips the scale at 2-3gm, and comes in sizes 7-13. Furthermore, the brand has offered a waterproof rating of 5ATM with the device, which means you can wear it while showering or swimming. However, it’s likely not suitable for diving.
Similar to the smart rings from other brands like Oura and Samsung, the Acer FreeSense Ring also collects your vital health metrics. These include heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels, and sleep quality. The wearable analyzes the collected data points through a companion smartphone app, which generates personalized wellness insights and offers suggestions.
Acer will offer the FreeSense Ring in two color options – Rose Gold with a matte finish and Black with a glossy finish. As of now, Acer hasn’t revealed the pricing or availability details of its first smart ring.
Acer’s AI TransBuds provide real-time AI translation
Acer has also introduced the AI TransBuds, which are a lightweight and compact pair of earbuds designed to simplify multilingual communication. You can connect the device to a smartphone or tablet using a plug-in receiver, which activates real-time, two-way voice translation powered by AI tech-based speech recognition and semantic analysis.
Furthermore, the Acer AI TransBuds offer live captioning and transcription. This helps users follow conversations in real time and review them later on. As of now, the AI-powered system supports 15 major languages spoken across Asia, the Americas, and Europe. The company has not yet revealed the pricing and availability details of the audio accessory as well.
