Aamir Khan to opt for pay-per-view model over OTT release for Sitaare Zameen Par

Aamir Khan is all set to make his grand comeback with Sitaare Zameen Par, co-starring Genelia D`Souza. While the film is primarily a theatrical release, for its OTT premiere, Mr. Perfectionist has reportedly jotted down a unique strategy. Usually, the makers sell the rights of the film to an OTT platform, giving subscribers access to watch it whenever they wish without any limitation. But Aamir has another plan in mind.

Aamir Khan has decided to release Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube once it finishes its theatrical run. Unique, right? Actually, that`s not the interesting part. Reportedly, Khan is planning to bring in a pay-per-view model for his film, which breaks the `subscribe to the platform and watch the film as many times as you want` image.

According to Hollywood Reporter India, a source revealed, “Aamir doesn`t want to release his films directly on streaming after their theatrical run, as it discourages viewers from watching movies on the big screen. It is also a reason why there is no streaming logo on the poster of Sitaare Zameen Par.”

You must have seen a lot of old films available on YouTube, but you can watch them only when you buy them. Pay-per-view is just an advanced version of this concept, with viewers being allowed to play the film only once every time they pay a particular amount.

But I can tell the title. The title of the film is Sitare Zameen Par. You must remember my film Taare Zameen Par, and the name of this film is Sitare Zameen Par because we are moving 10 steps ahead with the same theme. Taare Zameen Par was an emotional film; this film will make you laugh. That film made you cry, this one will entertain you.”
