“Clean and well-designed streets in San Cristobal island in Ecuador. Bengaluru, hang your head in shame,” Shaw wrote on X. She also tagged the official X handle of the Special Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.

Her post sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with some people agreeing and others making counterarguments. One user pointed out that other Indian cities also had superior infrastructure. “Just visit Mysore, Indore. Surat, Rajkot to make the point ! Ecuador is too far,” the user wrote. Responding to the comment, Shaw wrote, “Yes but the point is that even Ecuador which is a developing country is well maintained by the local municipality.”
“Ma’am pls visit colombo.. its a 45 minute flight from Bangalore u can start walking from the airport,” another user commented. “BBMP has mistakenly taken the target to make Bengaluru a Garbage City. Everywhere you turn, you will see garbage dumped,” a third user said.
Previously, Shaw slammed Bengaluru over the poor condition of roads. She shared a video posted by Mohandas Pai, showing citizens holding placards and protesting on a road filled with potholes. Pai had tagged Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar in the post.
