The Delhi High Court on Wednesday granted permission for the release of the film 120 Bahadur, starring Farhan Akhtar, on November 21st. This decision was made as the court dismissed a petition that questioned the film’s CBFC certification, which had been challenged on the basis of alleged historical inaccuracies.

The High Court issued its order, saying that it was too late to alter the film’s title and release date, or to implement last-minute changes. The court also noted that the producers had included the names of the soldiers at the end of the movie as a special tribute.

A bench comprising Justices Prathiba M Singh and Shail Jain dismissed the petition after the petitioner’s counsel said that it would be acceptable if the film’s title remained unchanged and all names were added at the end of the movie.

The bench said, “However, since there is some ambiguity as to whether names of all the 120 soldiers have been mentioned or not, it is directed that the film is permitted to be released in theatres as it is on Friday across the country.”

It further stated that the petitioners may watch the movie and verify the names of the 120 soldiers featured in it, and any necessary changes or corrections should be implemented for the OTT release. The bench said, “It is made clear that even for the OTT release, only the names of the soldiers along with the proper regiment will be mentioned.”

A PIL brought by the Sanyukt Ahir Regiment Morcha charitable trust, a trustee, and relatives of soldiers who perished in the Battle of Rezang La was being heard by the court. This PIL challenges the CBFC certificate granted to a film, alleging that it distorts historical facts and therefore requires a change in the film’s name.
