The new season sets up a powerful clash between two women on opposite sides of the law. When Tanuj first pitched it to Huma, he described the face-off as something akin to Batman vs Joker. Speaking to Filmfare, he revealed that the inspiration for this dynamic also came from one of his favourite films, Heat.

Tanuj shared, “One of my favourite movies is Heat, starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. It’s a story that tracks two sides of a crime, criminal and cop, and it’s so beautifully done. My dream was always to make a female version of Heat. This season was a chance to live out that dream. It is the same thing with Christopher Nolan’s Batman and Joker. There’s so much to play when you can get into the mind of both the criminal and the cop at the same time as the stories are interweaving. It’s a very delicate and beautiful thing to put out. Netflix has just done an amazing job bringing it to life with all these visuals. I go to sleep very happy at night.”
The crime drama also made history by becoming the first Indian show to win the Best Drama Series Award at the International Emmy Awards in 2020. Moreover, Shah earned a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress at the Emmys for the second season of Delhi Crime. But Tanuj does not carry this pressure.

The third season of Delhi Crime 3 is loosely based on the real-life incident of Baby Falak, that shook the nation in 2012. It also explores human trafficking. Huma plays the main antagonist with Sayani Gupta as one of her associates. It also stars Rajesh Tailang, Rasika Dugal, Mita Vasisht, Anshumaan Pushkar, Kelly Dorji and Yashaswini Dayama among others. It will be released on Netflix on November 13.
