The makers of Vaa Vaathiyaar have officially confirmed that the film will release on December 5. The announcement came from Studio Green, which called Karthi the “Swag Master” while sharing the news online. Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, the film marks the filmmaker’s return to big-screen storytelling after several years. The release date positions Vaa Vaathiyaar as one of Tamil cinema’s most anticipated year-end releases, arriving after the packed Diwali schedule.

An MGR Legacy and a Flamboyant Cop

Reports suggest that Vaa Vaathiyaar revolves around an MGR superfan who raises his grandson to carry forward the legendary actor’s ideals. Karthi plays a charismatic police officer who appears to embody that same larger-than-life energy. The teaser showcased his entry scene with celebratory visuals and a pulsating Santhosh Narayanan background score that set the tone for a lively action drama.

The film stars Krithi Shetty as the female lead, with veteran actors Sathyaraj and Rajkiran in key roles. The supporting cast includes Anandaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, Karunakaran, GM Sundar, Vadivukarasi, and Madhur Mittal.

The first single, “Uyir Pathikaama”, composed by Santhosh Narayanan and sung by Vijaynarain, Aditya Ravindran, and Santhosh himself, was released earlier this year. Written by lyricist Vivek, the song carries the film’s emotional pulse while staying true to Santhosh’s distinct musical flair.

This project also marks Santhosh Narayanan’s third collaboration with Nalan Kumarasamy after Soodhu Kavvum and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum. The technical team includes George C. Williams as the cinematographer and Vetre Krishnan as the editor.
