When Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra released just over a month ago, few could have anticipated the storm it would create. On Thursday, the makers confirmed that Dominic Arun’s fantasy epic has become the first film in Kerala to surpass 50000 shows, a milestone that underscores its immense popularity across the state.

Produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, the film has already earned an estimated ₹290 crore worldwide in just 35 days. In Kerala alone, it has crossed ₹115 crore, putting it on track to potentially overtake Mohanlal’s Thudarum as the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever in the state.

Box Office Records Keep Falling

Lokah’s success has been relentless. By its 24th day, it had overtaken Mohanlal’s L2: Empuraan to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film globally. Early reports placed its earnings at around ₹267 crore, but recent updates suggest the total has climbed even higher.

In Kerala, the film reached ₹100 crore in just 24 days, making it only the second Malayalam film ever to achieve this landmark. Within its first three weeks, it surpassed the lifetime collections of multiple previous hits. Beyond Kerala, the film has earned over ₹50 crore in the rest of India and performed strongly in overseas markets. Experts predict that it is only a matter of time before it surpasses Thudarum to become the state’s biggest grosser.
