
Mumbai Customs on Wednesday said that its officials deputed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMI) in city seized nearly 3 kg of suspected narcotic substances.
According to the officials, the Mumbai Customs Zone-III intercepted two passengers arriving from Bangkok. On checking their baggage, officers found 2.992 kg of a white powdered substance suspected to be Methaqualone or Cocaine, hidden in the checked-in luggage.
They said that the customs officials also arrested a third person — the intended recipient of the consignment –during a follow-up operation.
“All three suspects including two passengers and one receiver were arrested under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985,” said the officials.
Further investigation were underway, the officials said.
