Shah Rukh Khan and Amrita Rao worked together in Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Na, a film that remains one of the favourites among fans. Nearly two decades have passed since its release, yet the guidance King Khan gave Amrita during that time continues to resonate with her. In a recent interview, Amrita acknowledged that she still follows a piece of advice he offered on the sets of Main Hoon Na. 

During a conversation with Ranveer Allahabadia, Amrita Rao shared that Shah Rukh Khan was occupied with another film’s shooting when they had a break in the filming of Main Hoon Na. It was during this break that he sent an invitation to her and her mother to meet him. He then praised Amrita, for having the qualities of a superstar.

She added, “He said something very nice that 200 filmein aayengi, par humein sirf do filmein karni hai. Aur fir usmein se vo ek film ho that people are waiting for. (He told me I will be offered 200 films, but I must sign only two in the hope that one of them is the one people are waiting for.) That has been my criterion while signing films, and that’s why I have been so selective in this journey.” 

Talking about Shah Rukh Khan, Amrita mentioned that he would observe people on set, ensuring their comfort. She also said that he would pay attention to newcomers, recognising and addressing their potential nervousness. She said, “Every time the first take was the best take, there were no second takes because his temperament was like second take dena hi nahi hai (don’t ask for a second take), be so focused ki second take dena hi naa pade (ensure you don’t need to).”
