Foundry businessman killed in his Charkop office cops launch probe

In a shocking incident, a foundry businessman was found murdered at his office in Mumbai`s Charkop on Sunday morning, the police said, adding that a high-level probe was underway.

The deceased was identified as Mohad Ayub Sayyed (65). He was allegedly attacked inside his office at the Government Industrial Estate, an official said.

Two unidentified assailants entered his office and repeatedly stabbed him with sharp weapons before fleeing the scene, he said.

According to official sources, the suspects’ movements before and after the incident were captured on CCTV cameras installed on the premises.

Police sources revealed that both accused remained inside the victim’s office for nearly an hour, engaged in conversation with him, and then executed the murder.

CCTV footage shows that the duo carried weapons in a bag while entering, but left empty-handed. During a search of the premises, police recovered the bag and the weapons from a water tank.

Police sources stated that the exact motive for the killing is not yet clear and can only be established after the arrest of the suspects. Efforts are currently underway to identify them through CCTV footage. The manner in which the crime was carried out, and the amount of time the accused spent in the victim’s office, suggests that they were known to him.

A case has been registered and investigations are in progress. Senior officers, including Zone XI DCP Sandeep Jadhav, Malwani Division ACP Nita Padvi, and Charkop Police Senior Inspector Vinayak Chauhan, visited the crime scene. Multiple teams from Zone XI are actively searching for the accused.

It is understood that the deceased had leased part of his premises for melting foundry material, while using the remaining portion himself. Originally from Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh, he was residing in the Malad Link Road area. He also reportedly owned a company in Vasai, where he was engaged in small-scale foundry-related work with the help of his two sons.
