Mumbai Customs on Friday said that its officials seized foreign currency and drugs worth over Rs 20 crore at the city airport in different cases and arrested two passengers in connection with the matters.

An official statement said that the Mumbai Customs officials deputed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMI) in Mumbai, seized foreign currency and narcotic substances in a series of operations conducted between September 17 and 18, 2025.

In the first case, while acting on specific intelligence, Mumbai Customs Zone-III officers intercepted a passenger travelling to Bangkok. Upon checking the passenger’s trolley bag, officials found foreign currency equivalent to Rs 26.37 lakh concealed inside. The currency was seized and further investigation is underway.

In an another case, the Mumbai Customs officials intercepted a passenger arriving from Bangkok. During baggage inspection, officers found 9.981 kilograms of suspected Hydroponic Marijuana, hidden inside a checked-in trolley bag. The estimated value of the drugs is approximately Rs 9.981 crore. The passenger was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

In the third case, on the same flight, an another passenger was found with 10.081 kilograms of suspected Hydroponic Weed, also concealed in checked baggage. The illicit consignment is estimated to be worth Rs 10.081 crore. The passenger was also arrested under the NDPS Act.
