Rs 45 lakh stolen from Bhayander businessman at Borivali railway

A 45-year-old currency exchange businessman, Ganesh Subhash Chandra Sisodia, residing in Bhayander East, lodged a complaint at Borivali Railway Police Station after being robbed of Rs 4.5 lakh in cash at Borivali Railway Station on September 11.

According to GRP sources, Sisodia, who deals in torn, old, and demonetized notes through the Reserve Bank, was contacted by his agent Manoj regarding a customer, Omkar Manchekar, who allegedly possessed Rs 7 lakh worth of Rs 2,000 demonetised notes. After multiple postponements, Omkar asked to meet near Borivali Railway Station on September 11.

Sisodia arrived at the spot around 3 pm with Rs 6 lakh in cash. Around 4 pm, while waiting with Manoj, Omkar appeared with three accomplices. The gang allegedly attacked Sisodia, bit his shoulder, assaulted him, and attempted to snatch his bag. During the struggle inside a local train halted at Platform 1, the bag tore, spilling the cash. The accused managed to flee with Rs 4.5 lakh, while Sisodia retained Rs 1.5 lakh.

The Borivali Railway Police have registered a case under relevant sections of BNS and launched a probe to trace the accused.
