Supreme Court Collegium proposes Transfer of 14 High Court Judges

The Supreme Court Collegium has initiated a major reshuffle in the higher judiciary by proposing the transfer of fourteen High Court judges across various Indian states. The recommendations, which follow an internal review process, are slated to be sent shortly to the Union Government for approval. Once sanctioned, the President will issue formal notifications to effect the transfers.

The list of judges identified for transfer, along with their current and proposed High Court assignments:

  • Justice Arun Monga – from Delhi High Court (recently transferred from Rajasthan High Court) – to another High Court (not specified); his original parent court is Punjab & Haryana High Court
  • Justice Atul Sreedharan – from Madhya Pradesh High Court (second senior-most judge after Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva) – proposed to be transferred to Chhattisgarh High Court.
  • Justice Sanjay Agarwal – Chhattisgarh High Court → Allahabad High Court
  • Justice J. Nisha Banu – Madras High Court → Kerala High Court
  • Justice Dinesh Mehta – Rajasthan High Court → Delhi High Court
  • Justice Avneesh Jhingan – Rajasthan High Court → Delhi High Court
  • Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh – Allahabad High Court → Madras High Court
  • Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal – Allahabad High Court → Calcutta High Court
  • Justice Manavendranath Roy – Gujarat High Court → Andhra Pradesh High Court
  • Justice Donadi Ramesh – Allahabad High Court → Andhra Pradesh High Court
  • Justice Sandeep Natvarlal Bhatt – Gujarat High Court → Madhya Pradesh High Court
  • Justice Chandrasekharan Sudha – Kerala High Court → Delhi High Court
  • Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju – Delhi High Court → Patna High Court
  • Justice Subhendu Samanta – Calcutta High Court → Andhra Pradesh High Court

Transfers marks a significant step in judicial realignment, aiming to enhance the performance and representation across the High Courts.
