KTR Accepts CM Revanth Reddy’s Debate Challenge on Telangana Farmers’ Issues

KTR Accepts CM Revanth Reddy’s Debate Challenge on Telangana Farmers’ Issues

Debate Challenge on Telangana Farmers’ Issues

Hyderabad, July 5: In a sharp escalation of the political war over farmers’ welfare in Telangana, BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has accepted Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s challenge for a public debate. The showdown is scheduled for July 8 at 11:00 am at the Hyderabad Press Club, and KTR has thrown down the gauntlet, daring the CM to face the facts in front of the media and the public.

The challenge originated during the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) meeting at LB Stadium on Friday, where CM Revanth dared BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), KTR, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to debate the state of farmers in Telangana. In response, KTR not only accepted the challenge but offered flexibility on venue and time if needed, naming Kondareddypalle, Kodangal, Gajwel, or Chintamadaka as alternate locations.

“We accept the challenge. Revanth Reddy has 72 hours to prepare. Let’s see if he dares to face the truth,” said KTR, speaking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan.

Accusations Against the Congress Government

KTR launched a blistering attack on the Congress regime, accusing it of failing Telangana’s farmers. He claimed the government had failed to supply urea and fertilizers in time, leading to widespread distress. “Farmers are once again standing in long queues. This is not development — this is a return to Indiramma Rajyam,” he said, referencing the era of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

He also alleged the Congress government owed ₹39,000 crore to Telangana’s farmers, under schemes such as Rythu Bharosa, crop loan waiver, and the promised ₹500 bonus for fine rice varieties.

Revanth Reddy’s Knowledge Questioned

KTR criticized CM Revanth for what he termed a lack of understanding of the state’s geography and irrigation needs. He accused the Chief Minister of confusing water basins and failing to grasp the intricacies of Telangana’s irrigation system.

Political Attacks and “PayCM” Jibe

In a pointed remark, KTR dismissed CM Revanth’s claim of winning 100 seats in the next Assembly elections. “Let them first win a ZPTC in the CM’s own constituency,” he mocked.

He also praised Congress MLA J. Anirudh Reddy for calling out internal sabotage within the party, alleging that Revanth Reddy was a covert agent of Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu.

KTR accused Revanth Reddy of being a puppet of the Congress high command and labeled him “PayCM”, suggesting that he is paying loyalty to Delhi while neglecting Telangana’s interests.

“We are witnessing a ‘covert rule’ in Telangana. Funds are being diverted to Delhi, and water is being siphoned off to Andhra Pradesh. This betrayal must stop,” KTR alleged.

A Political Face-off with High Stakes

With the July 8 debate drawing near, political temperatures are rising in Telangana. While CM Revanth Reddy is yet to officially respond to KTR’s acceptance, political observers are already branding this as a critical moment that could define the state’s narrative around farmer welfare ahead of the 2028 elections.
