Demands for Grants for various ministries get Lok Sabha approval | India News

The Lok Sabha on Friday passed the Demand for Grants of various ministries for the year 2025-26, approving the expenditure of more than Rs 50 lakh crore. Lok Sabha passed the Demand for Grants by applying guillotine in the evening.

Applying guillotine means that the Demands for Grants for the ministries, on which it is being applied, are considered approved without a discussion.

The method is used to ensure timely passage of the Union Budget, especially when time is short or disruptions stall the discussions. The guillotine was applied last time in Lok Sabha in March 2023 to clear the Union Budget for 2023-24.
