Kerala startup launches device to hold and charge mobile phone

Have you experienced the hassle of finding a safe spot for charging your mobile phone while travelling? Often one has to balance it on wall switchboard or let the phone dangle by the cord and place something under to support it.

Now a Kerala startup has come up with a solution to address this challenge. The Thrissur-based E-Quark Molecule Innovations Pvt Ltd has developed a mobile charger with a built-in gadget holder under the brand Keratin.

The hold & charge device features a dedicated and integrated provision to securely place a wide range of gadgets including smartphones.

The charger is equipped with a smart chip which offers advanced features like auto-adaptation and high-end voltage and current protection. The charger provides an 8-layer protection system, ensuring complete safety of devices, founder Jerin Jose told businessline.

Priced at ₹1,099, the company intends to launch the 25W fast charger including a braided cable on June 24. Plans are also afoot to introduce 15W, 20W, 30W and 45W capacities soon, he said.

The new charger is a compact 5.5 cm cube, easy to handle and carry. The product’s dual functionality allows it to serve as both a traditional charger and a versatile “Hold & Charge’, making it ideal for travel and everyday use, he added.

After marking its entry in the domestic market, he said the company intends to launch the models in GCC and European countries by November.

Kerala Startup Mission has supported the company with a product development fund of Rs7 lakh. With every product sold, Rs5 is donated to social welfare initiatives like child education, supply of vitamins and minerals supplements to the under-nourished and support of hospital emergencies in under-developed regions, he added.
