Electric vehicle and battery technology company Ultraviolette Automotive is planning to expand its manufacturing capacity to support its international growth plans. The company currently operates a pilot manufacturing facility in Bengaluru with a production capacity of 30,000 units annually.
“Towards the latter part of this year, we will begin our production expansion,” said Narayan Subramaniam, Founder and CEO of Ultraviolette.
“We are working backwards from our 2028 goal of achieving an annual production capacity of over 3 lakh vehicles. The current expansion is designed keeping that target in mind. The facility (Bengaluru ) must account for the foreseeable growth of the company,” he added.
Larger unit
The company is also in talks with various State governments to set up a larger manufacturing unit for its upcoming diversified product portfolio.
The new facility is expected to play a central role in Ultraviolette’s international expansion, with key target markets including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, and the UK. The company is currently exporting to some of these countries and the expanded capacity will support deeper market penetration.
Ultraviolette has already secured over 60,000 pre-bookings for its Tesseract model and more than 7,000 for the Shockwave, with deliveries expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2026.
Further, elaborating on the expansion plan, Subramaniam said that the company aims to open experience centres across 50 cities by end of 2026.
Global expansion
Ultraviolette has started its pilot expansion in Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK. In the next phase, the company will strategically assess and enter regions such as Latin America and Southeast Asia, added Subramaniam.
