Ektaa Kapoor hits back at Anurag Kashyap over his Saas Bahu remark

Producer and filmmaker Ektaa Kapoor has hit back at Anurag Kashyap after he took a dig at saas bahu shows. Anurag was responding to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos’ remarks on Sacred Games while he made the statement. Irked by Kashyap’s statement, Ektaa took to social media to write, “Ur so dumb… saying this put u on an advantage ‘I’m smarter cooler’ but naaaaaaaa! Darling how about gracious!!! N self aware?????? An art a lot of artists don’t have! ‘Saas bahu’ n their impact on Indian masses (how women got a voice in mass India) is well documented by a prestigious Chicago research! But artists who talk of an inclusive world are actually more classist. We must do away with this ‘U can’t sit with us we r better’ attitude for democracy n fair play! Love n light to all.”

Anurag’s remarks were triggered by what Sarandos said about Sacred Games, Netflix’s first Indian original show. He spoke about the OTT giant’s early India strategy and said, “For me, if I did it all over again, I would have done Sacred Games a couple of years later, and did things that were more populist instead? Maybe.”

Kashyap, who co-directed Sacred Games with Vikramaditya Motwane, slammed Sarandos for this statement and wrote on social media, “He should have started with Saas Bahu…he would have done well. Which is he doing now. I always knew the tech guys are dumb when it comes to storytelling but @tedsarandos is the definition of dumb is what I didn’t know. Good to discover that. This explains everything now.” Sacred Games starred Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Luke Kenny, Pankaj Tripathi, Elnaaz Norouzi, and Kubbra Sait among others.
