Biker, his friend severely injured after car rams into two-wheeler in Aarey

A 19-year-old student and his friend sustained serious injuries after a speeding car rammed into their two-wheeler in Mumbai’s Aarey Colony during the early hours of Friday.

A case has been registered at Aarey Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash driving, as well as the Motor Vehicles Act. Police have launched an investigation.

According to police sources, the biker, Sameer Akhtar Ansari, a resident of Unit No 30 in Moracha Pada, Aarey Colony, was riding his two-wheeler with his friend Sagar around 2 am when a car coming from the opposite direction at high speed collided with their vehicle.

Both were rushed to a nearby government hospital. Ansari reportedly sustained serious injuries, including fractures in both legs.

“The car driver, allegedly driving recklessly and negligently, caused serious injuries to Ansari’s legs. Shockingly, the driver fled the scene without stopping to help or informing the authorities,” said an officer from Aarey Police Station.

Based on Ansari’s complaint and the vehicle’s registration number, the police identified the accused as Devendra Jiledar Gujjar (25), a resident of a MHADA housing complex in Malvani.

According to the officer, the accused has been served a notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and has been asked to appear for further investigation.
