Company About to Purge Millions

Starting next month, Samsung will be deleting accounts that have remained inactive for 24 months. If you haven’t signed into your account for nearly a couple of years, then it’s about time to sign in if you want to keep it.

Samsung will start deleting inactive accounts from July 31

Users of Samsung accounts have a little over eight weeks to save their accounts. Samsung will start deleting accounts inactive for two months on July 31, 2025. The South Korean tech giant has notified users about the deletion of inactive accounts, so they have ample time to save any data associated with their accounts.

Under the company’s new policy, it will permanently delete any accounts that remain inactive for 24 months by the end of next month. Once Samsung deletes an inactive account, users won’t have any access to it. Also, the company will delete all the linked data from its servers forever.

This means that once Samsung deletes accounts and data, you cannot restore them in any way. The policy covers various services, including Samsung Cloud data, Samsung Wallet, Galaxy Store apps, Find My Mobile information, and more. It’s worth mentioning that the Galaxy Store and proprietary apps need a Samsung account to sign in. This means that you risk losing access to the data connected to these services.

Samsung will spare accounts that see any activity before the end of July

In an email to users, Samsung stated that it will spare accounts if it detects any login activity before the end of July. So if you haven’t used your Samsung account in a while, you should log in to it at least once before July 31. You can easily sign in to your account without using a Samsung phone or tablet, as all it needs is visiting the company’s website using a browser. Doing so will update the account on the company’s side, marking it as active. As long as you sign into your account before July 31, it should remain untouched.

It’s worth adding that the new inactive Samsung account policy doesn’t apply to registered family accounts. These accounts must have a “record of accumulating/using reward points” and accounts used to buy products from the company’s website. The brand will consider all these accounts active.
