The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 made many noteworthy improvements over its predecessor, including significantly reducing crease visibility, upgrading the hinge, and more. If you’re in the market for a smart flip phone, you won’t find many alternatives that match the same level of polish, although devices like the Moto Razr Plus make an admirable attempt. As much as we love the Flip 6, it’s time to start thinking about its upcoming successor. With that in mind, here’s everything we know so far about the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

Keyword: At a glance

  • When is it expected to come out? The date has yet to be officially revealed. However, it’s expected to arrive sometime this summer.
  • What new features could there be? Samsung could change the external display. It may also be slightly bigger than before.
  • How much might it cost? Leaks claim the device will stay at $1,099.

Will there be a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7?

It is highly likely there will be a follow-up to the Galaxy Z Flip 6. The series has been successful up to this point, and there are no signs that Samsung is slowing down.

In fact, it’s popular enough that the tech giant is also working on an FE model. In addition to a few patent leaks, there have been plenty of other leaks from reliable sources that span from specs to pricing details. As the saying goes, where there is smoke, there is fire. Nothing’s ever guaranteed, but there’s more than enough evidence at this point to feel safe in saying that a Galaxy Z Flip 7 is on the way, most likely with a Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE/Galaxy Z Flip FE by its side.

What is the most likely Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 release date?

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 09

Lanh Nguyen / Android Authority

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 — July 24, 2024
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 — August 11, 2023
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 — August 26, 2022

The Galaxy Z Flip series typically debuts alongside the Fold family in August. However, Samsung pushed the release date up by a month in 2024. This decision may have been influenced by the date of the Olympics, with Samsung intent on using the event’s global reach to boost the advertisement of its products.

With no official announcements, leaks, or rumors, it’s unclear what Samsung’s plans are for this year. The most likely possibility, according to Korean reports, is that the company will launch its new foldables in July. More specifically, the Korea Joongang Daily reported back in April that the launch would take place in New York and would “most likely” occur in the first week of July. Either way, you might have to wait a week or two for the actual release date. Either way, the only solid bet right now is that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be unveiled sometime in the summer of 2025.

What rumored specs and features could the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 have?

As this will be Samsung’s seventh attempt at the Flip series, it’s fair to assume the firm will make some notable changes. But what will be new this time around? We have enough details at this point to start setting a few expectations, which we’ll explore in this section.

Design

Don’t get your hopes up for something radically different from years past. Leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will look a lot like its predecessor. But it may not be as bad as the Galaxy S25 vs the Galaxy S24, which both phones look almost identical.

The first leaked renders of the Flip 7, courtesy of Android Headlines, hinted that Samsung would play it safe and transfer over the design philosophy from the Flip 6. In this leak, we learned that the device could have slightly larger dimensions at 166.6 x 75.2 x 6.9mm. It was also said that the cover screen and inner display are now 3.6 inches and 6.8 inches, respectively. For comparison, the Flip 6 has a 3.4-inch cover display, a 6.7-inch inner display, and its dimensions are 165.1 x 71.9 x 6.9mm.

However, shortly after those renders emerged, the outlet made a correction. The new renders, shown below, revealed a device with a larger cover display, reminiscent of the Motorola Razr Ultra. Instead of the originally reported 3.6 inches, this cover display is said to measure around 4 inches.

The publication claims that the rest of the information from the original report is accurate. Only the external panel details needed to be corrected. Furthermore, our own Samsung software teardown corroborates these updated images. Check out our uncovered render below.

Meanwhile, WinFuture journalist Roland Quandt reported that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be available in Black, Blue, and Coral Red.

Specs

One of the first details to leak about the Galaxy Z Flip 7 was which chip it would use. A rumor from leaker Jukanlosreve on X (formerly Twitter) suggested that the foldable could sport an Exynos 2500 processor. This is the same chip that was going to be in the Galaxy S25 before Samsung changed its plans.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 Exynos 2500 leak

One of South Korea’s oldest news publications, Chosun Ilbo, supports this possibility by saying that Samsung Electronics “confirmed” that the Exynos 2500 SoC will be used on the Flip 7 and Flip FE. The report from Chosun Ilbo specifically attributes the following statement to a “senior official” from Samsung Electronics:

It is true that we have faced difficulties in mass production as we applied the Gate-All-Around (GAA) process for the first time in the foundry 3-nanometer second-generation process. However, the process has now stabilized, and starting mass production is just a matter of time. While it seems difficult to equip the Galaxy S25 series due to a lack of secured supply, it should be feasible to equip the premium models in the Z Flip series.

In a more recent social post, Jukanlosreve went a little deeper by offering the Exynos 2500’s specifications. According to the tipster, the chip will come with a 10-core CPU in a 1+2+5+2 layout. This is said to consist of a Cortex-X925 big core clocked at 3.3GHz, seven Cortex-A725 cores (2x at 2.75GHz and 5x at 2.36GHz), and two Cortex-A520 little cores running at 1.8GHz. Along with that, it may also feature 16MB of L3 cache.

The tipster also shared that the Exynos 2500 will gain an Xclipse 950 GPU clocked at 1.3GHz and with eight workgroup processors. It appears the GPU may use AMD’s RDNA 3.5 architecture instead of its predecessor’s RDNA 3 IP. Other notable specs include a 56 TOPs NPU, 320MP single-camera support (in line with Exynos 2400), and 8K/30fps encoding support.

Exynos 2500 specs via Jukanlosreve

While it sounds like the plan was to outfit the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with an Exynos 2500 chip, that may not be the case anymore. A March 2025 report from The Bell claims that due to lingering issues with the processor’s development, the company has shifted its strategy for the Exynos 2500 once again. This reportedly led to Samsung targeting only the Galaxy Z Flip FE to be the recipient of the Exynos 2500. As Samsung ramps up mass production of the Exynos 2500 for the Flip FE, it’s said the company is working on the Exynos 2600 in parallel.

Things only got more confusing as more rumors and reports arrived. The Chosun Biz outlet reported in late April that the Z Flip 7 would use the Exynos 2500 processor after all. Then SamMobile claimed the Z Flip 7 would have an Exynos chip in all regions bar Canada, China, and the US. But Korean website Hangkyung asserted that only Korea is getting the Exynos variant. Then SamMobile claimed last week that every region will get a Z Flip 7 with an Exynos chipset. Confused yet? So are we.

The biggest question regarding the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is its choice of processor.

Moving on to other matters, the leak from Android Headlines mentioned earlier revealed that whatever SoC the Flip 7 gets could be joined by 12GB of RAM, and your choice of either 256GB or 512GB of storage. We have yet to see any leaks or rumors that contradict this information. In fact, WinFuture corroborated the storage claims.

Meanwhile, there are quite a few details about the Flip 7’s battery and charging speed. Samsung upgraded the battery on the Flip 6, going up from 3,700mAh to 4,000mAh. It looks like the company will increase the capacity again for the seventh generation. GalaxyClub reports that the phone will have two batteries — typical for a foldable — with one having a rated capacity of 2,985mAh and the other 1,189mAh. Together, that brings the total rated capacity to 4,174mAh.

It’s important to note that rated capacity is slightly different from what’s marketed. Rated capacity refers to what’s computed under specific, static load conditions. As for what’s marketed, that number is usually derived from rounding up the typical capacity, which is the power availability you’re likely to get through real-world usage. The rated capacity of the Flip 6 is 3,887mAh, which is about a 2.9% difference from what’s marketed. Using the same logic, the typical capacity of the Flip 7 would be 4,295mAh. It’s likely Samsung will round this number up to 4,300mAh for the marketed capacity.

In terms of charging, we have some bad news. After the device passed through China’s 3C regulatory website, we learned that it will feature 25W wired charging. Unfortunately, that means we aren’t getting an upgrade in this department. What adds salt to the wound, however, is that the Galaxy A56 5G offers 45W wired charging, but this phone won’t. This charging speed was corroborated by another certification listing in early May.

Cameras

Just like the Flip 6, the Flip 7 is expected to have two rear cameras and a selfie shooter. In January, a leak from GalaxyClub made the assertion that the main camera will be 50MP, while the ultrawide is a 12MP lens. It also appears that we’re in store for a 10MP selfie camera. If this is true, it would be the same setup found on the Flip 6. However, GalaxyClub didn’t say if the sensors are the same size. This information was also corroborated by the report from Android Headlines.

Features

Not much is known about what new features will be available on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 yet. But thanks to a leak from SamMobile, we know that Samsung may compensate for the slow rollout of One UI 7 by shipping the foldable with One UI 8. For what it’s worth, Android 16 is due to be released sometime in June or July this year. Samsung went on to confirm that One UI 8 would debut on its new foldables this summer.

Accessories

What’s a phone without its accessories? If you can’t wait to see what cases will be available for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, a leak from well-known tipster Ice Universe may be just what you need.

On X (formerly Twitter), the leaker shared what appears to be photos of clear and black cases for the flip phone. You may notice in these images that the cases are designed to accommodate the new cover screen that expands across the entire top half of the back. These cases also seem to suggest that the screen’s bezels are smaller.

In addition to their post on X, Ice Universe also shared renders of cases on Weibo. These renders show the cases in a rainbow of different colors. In total, Ice Universe’s leak reveals 10 separate hues, including orange, blue, green, purple, black, white, yellow, light green, peach, and light blue.

What might the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 price be?

Galaxy Z Flip6 Colors 1

Lanh Nguyen / Android Authority

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 — $1,099
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 — $999
  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 — $999

Since the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 3, the price of the Flip series has sat comfortably at $999. However, Samsung decided to bump the price up by $100 in 2024 for the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Could we see another price increase in 2025?

It doesn’t look like a price hike is in the cards, at least according to Android Headlines. In the leak mentioned earlier, the outlet asserts that the price will remain at $1,099. There have yet to be any leaks to refute this claim, so this is the best information we have so far on the cost. Given the tariff situation in the US, it’s fully possible that Samsung could decide to charge more before launch. However, we’re inclined to believe that the price will stick at $1,099.

Should you wait for the Samsung Galaxy Flip 7?

It has been a while since the Galaxy Z Flip 6 launched. Despite that, it’s still one of the best smart flip phones available. There’s also no guarantee that the Flip 7 will be a massive improvement. At the same time, we’re not far away from the expected launch of the Flip 7. If you want to be on the latest version of One UI as soon as possible, this flip phone would be your best bet. On top of that, there’s the larger cover display to think about.

At the end of the day, if your Flip 6 is working fine, then you don’t need to upgrade. Why upgrade any phone just a year later, anyway? If you have an older Flip model, you may want to consider getting a Flip 6 instead, as it should see a price drop once the Flip 7 is out.

Solid dual-camera setup • Excellent build quality • Class-leading update commitment

The Flip gets refreshed.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 introduces several exciting updates over previous Flip phones. It is equipped with a larger battery, improved cooling, and a next-gen chipset. 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage mean you do not need to compromise on performance. The 3.4-inch front display offers info at a glance, while the 6.7-inch 22:9 main AMOLED display offers a 120Hz refresh rate.

But if you have some money to throw around and having the latest tech means a lot to you, then you might as well pick one up. If you liked the Flip 6, you likely won’t be disappointed by the Flip 7.

If you feel like Samsung’s 2024 clamshell foldable didn’t live up to your expectations, you might be better off with a traditional smartphone like the Galaxy S24 ($859.99 at Amazon) or Pixel 9 ($799 at Amazon). Are you sold on the idea of a flip phone but looking for an alternative to Samsung? The Motorola Razr Plus (2024) ($799.99 at Amazon) is probably your best bet, as it’s widely available. There are a few other flip phones out there, but many of these devices are limited to China or only select regions in Asia and Europe.
