The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to entertain an application seeking urgent intervention of the Court on the reported felling of 875 trees in Himachal Pradesh.
Noting that none of the junior benches were authorised to allow any mentioning, the Bench of Justice PK Mishra and Justice AG Masih directed the applicant to approach the Registry, which would then take instructions from the Chief Justice of India (CJI).
The Counsel representing the petitioner apprised the Bench that an intervention application has been filed in the pending TN Godavarman case on the felling of 875 trees in the state.
The trees would be cut down on Wednesday itself, he added.
The Counsel pointed out that Justice Masih was part of the Bench dealing with various applications relating to environmental issues in the TN Godavarman case.
Justice Mishra replied that Justice Masih was also not authorised to allow any mentioning.
