AIMIM Leader Naseer Siddiqui Urges Muslims to Boycott Cow Slaughter Amid Harsh Maharashtra Laws

AIMIM Leader Naseer Siddiqui Appeals to Muslims on Cow Slaughter Law

“Don’t Buy Cow Family Animals This Eid”

By Naveed Uddin Khan Uzair

AIMIM leader Naseer Siddiqui has made a passionate and emotional appeal to the Muslim community ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, urging them not to purchase or sacrifice any animals from the cow family, including bulls, calves, and cows, in light of the strict new laws imposed in Maharashtra, which he described as “fanatical and discriminatory.”

In a widely circulated message, Siddiqui criticized the recent application of the MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) on cow slaughter cases, stating that such draconian laws are being misused against Muslims in Maharashtra and are part of a growing pattern of harassment and criminalization under the guise of animal protection.

“There is no law like this anywhere else in India. Even in BJP-ruled states like Goa, cow slaughter and consumption are permitted. But here in Maharashtra, the government has shown extreme love for bulls and calves that are not even useful for farming anymore. They’ve imposed such strict rules that Muslims are living like thieves,” Siddiqui said.

“We Are Forced to Live Like Criminals”

Naseer Siddiqui detailed how Muslims involved in the cattle trade or even those simply purchasing animals for Qurbani (sacrifice) are being unfairly targeted:

“You buy an animal by paying thousands or lakhs, then take it home in secret, hide it, tie it up, and some informer tips off the police. The police raid your home, seize your animal, book false cases, and then you have to bribe them with lakhs of rupees just to protect yourself,” he said.

He described the situation as deeply humiliating:

“You have to stand in the police station with folded hands, with fear in your eyes, and beg for your safety. After this, where is our pride? Where is our dignity?”

A Clear Appeal: “Don’t Buy Cow Family Animals This Eid”

Siddiqui appealed to the Muslim community to boycott the purchase of bulls and cows altogether this Eid, not just to avoid legal trouble, but to send a strong message to the government.

“I appeal to every Muslim: Do not buy a single cow or bull. Buy goats instead. Even if they have less meat, it’s better than living in fear and shame. Let farmers realize that the government is not only anti-Muslim but also anti-farmer,” he said.

Farmers Also Victimized?

The AIMIM leader highlighted how farmers, already under severe economic distress, are now unable to sell their unproductive cattle due to the fear of criminal cases and police harassment.

“These animals are a burden. They’re neither useful for milk nor farming. Farmers used to sell them to survive. Now, even that is being taken away. The result? More farmer suicides and more distress,” Siddiqui stated.

A Warning on Informers

In a direct warning to the community, Siddiqui said:

“You don’t know how many informers are among us. They’ll give tips to the police. Your animal will be seized, and cases will be filed against you. Then to avoid jail, you’ll pay lakhs in bribes. So why take that risk?”

“Allah Knows Our Intention”

Siddiqui emphasized the spiritual aspect of Qurbani, urging Muslims to prioritize intention (niyyah) over extravagance:

“If our intention is sacrifice, Allah knows it. If not, then don’t do it at all. If you truly want to give a big share, choose buffaloes or other permissible animals, but don’t fall into this trap laid out to humiliate and destroy us.”

A Call for Unity and Economic Resistance

The statement ends with a strong call for unity among Muslims and a form of economic resistance:

“Let’s not support a system that criminalizes us. Don’t spend crores this Eid on animals that will only bring trouble. Show the government that we will not be trapped. Let the farmers feel the pinch too, so they pressure the government. We must take a stand — for our dignity, our religion, and our future.”

Conclusion

Naseer Siddiqui’s appeal has already sparked debate across political and social circles, highlighting the tension between religious freedoms, animal protection laws, and rising communal sensitivities in India. His message reflects a growing concern within the Muslim community about increasing legal risks and targeted policies, particularly in BJP-ruled states.

The coming days will reveal whether this call for restraint and unity resonates with the larger community ahead of Eid.
