Japanese automaker Nissan has addressed recent media speculation regarding the potential closure of some of its production facilities, categorically denying any official basis for such claims.
“As a policy, we do not comment on speculatory reports,” a spokesperson of Nissan Motor India stated in a statement. “Nissan remains committed to its India operations, dealers, partners, and customers.”
The company emphasised that recent reports suggesting the closure of certain plants are purely speculative and not grounded in any official communication from the automaker.
Clarifying its current global production plans, Nissan confirmed a previously announced move to consolidate the manufacturing of its Nissan Frontier and Nissan Navara pickup trucks. Production, which had been split between facilities in Mexico and Argentina, will now be centralised at the CIVAC plant in Morelos, Mexico.
Additionally, the spokesperson highlighted Nissan’s earlier announcement in March, where it was confirmed that Renault Group would acquire Nissan’s 51 per cent stake in Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Ltd (RNAIPL), thereby taking full ownership of the entity.
“At this time, we will not be providing further comments on this matter,” the company added.
