After suffering a loss in the IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals` wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel opened up on the positive environment Kevin Pietersen maintains in the camp.
While speaking in the post-match press conference, “The experience with Kevin Pietersen has been really good. He tells us what should be done and what shouldn`t, and he always appreciates us when we do well but the biggest thing is the support he offers when things aren`t going right,” said the 22-year-old.
The Axar Patel-led DC started off their IPL 2025 campaign on a positive note with four back-to-back victories. In the later part of the tournament, Delhi managed to secure just two wins in the last eight matches. Their recent loss against Gujarat also made their path difficult to secure a playoff spot.

Currently placed fifth on the points table with six wins, five losses, and one no result, Delhi still have two games left in the league stage. While qualification remains mathematically possible, they will need to not only win both matches but also hope for favourable results in other fixtures. Despite the recent slump, Porel`s words reflect a dressing room that remains united and motivated.
“The entire team management backs us during tough times and keeps reminding us that we still have a chance to bounce back,” he added. “My experience with the team management has been good.”
DC will lock horns with Mumbai Indians in their upcoming IPL 2025 match scheduled to be played on May 21 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It will be interesting to see if DC provides another chance to struggling Karun Nair in the clash against Mumbai.
