Tata Motors Delivers 20 More Electric Cargo Vehicles to Magenta Mobility

Tata Motors has delivered 20 additional Ace EV units to Magenta Mobility, bringing their fleet to 350 electric cargo vehicles, the companies announced Monday. The delivery forms part of a 2023 agreement to deploy 500 electric commercial vehicles.

The Ace EVs currently operate in 10 cities and have traveled approximately 5 million kilometers, saving an estimated 2,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, according to company officials. The vehicles serve multiple sectors including e-commerce, courier services, and consumer goods distribution.

Magenta Mobility’s Founder and CEO Maxson Lewis cited the Ace EV’s operational reliability and performance as key factors in the continued partnership. “With 350 vehicles already integrated into our fleet and 150 more on the way, we are strengthening our green logistics footprint across India,” Lewis said.

Pinaki Haldar, Vice President at Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable transport solutions. “Each Ace EV delivered is a step forward in democratizing zero-emission cargo transport and accelerating the nation’s green mobility movement,” he stated.

The Ace EV offers a certified range of 161 kilometers and can carry loads up to 1,000 kilograms. The vehicle includes Tata’s Fleet Edge connected platform for tracking performance metrics and features like regenerative braking and battery cooling systems.

Tata Motors has sold more than 8,000 Ace EVs across India, with the vehicles collectively covering over 60 million kilometers. The company supports its electric fleet through a network of over 200 specialized service centers.

India’s commercial EV sector has seen substantial growth as businesses seek to reduce operational costs and meet environmental goals. Government initiatives promoting electric mobility have further accelerated adoption in the logistics industry, particularly in last-mile delivery services.

Tata Motors, part of the $165 billion Tata group, leads India’s commercial vehicle market and ranks among the top three passenger vehicle manufacturers. The company operates facilities in India, the UK, South Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia, with a global market presence spanning Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and SAARC countries.
