Unity Above Politics
Owaisi, Omar Abdullah, and Shashi Tharoor Prove Patriotism Knows No Boundaries
By Naveed Uddin Khan Uzair
In times of crisis, when the nation’s sovereignty is threatened, the essence of democracy is not just about questioning the government but standing united for the tricolor. Recent statements by Indian political leaders Asaduddin Owaisi, Omar Abdullah, and Shashi Tharoor have demonstrated that patriotism transcends politics, religion, and ideology. Their powerful words have reignited a spirit of unity across the nation, reminding every citizen that when it comes to India’s security, all divisions fade away.
A Moment of Patriotism Beyond Politics
Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), known for his fiery oratory and staunch views, delivered a powerful message following the Pahalgam terrorist attack of 2025 and the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. Speaking in Motihari, Bihar, while donning a tricolor turban, Owaisi passionately declared, “We are Muslims later; first, we are citizens of India, and India comes first.” His speech resonated across the nation, especially among Muslim youth who often find themselves caught in questions of loyalty and identity. Owaisi did not hold back in criticizing Pakistan, calling it “an exporter of terrorism” and sarcastically referring to its IMF struggles, saying, “They beg for one billion dollars from the IMF. I call it the International Militant Fund.”
Owaisi also boldly questioned the global community, including the United States, Germany, and Japan, for financially supporting a nation that fuels terrorism. He even called out Turkey for its double standards, asking why its military actions are justified, but India’s self-defense measures are questioned. His unapologetic stand against terrorism and unflinching support for the Indian Army’s counter-terrorism operations have left a lasting impact. “If you are fond of doing jihad, then do jihad against terrorism,” he urged Indian Muslims, reinforcing his belief that loyalty to the nation comes above all else.
Omar Abdullah’s Strong Stand from the Valley
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, also made his voice heard, shutting down Pakistan’s Kashmir propaganda. Abdullah firmly stated that “Kashmir is an integral part of India, and no Indian is looking at Pakistan with affection today.” His words echoed through the Valley, silencing cross-border narratives and showcasing a united Kashmir standing with the rest of India. His firm stance shattered the myth of Kashmir’s alienation, highlighting that Kashmiris see themselves as Indians first when the nation is under threat.
Shashi Tharoor’s Global Message of Unity
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, known for his eloquent speeches and global presence, brought India’s voice to the world stage. His recent speeches have not only impressed Indians but also garnered respect globally for his articulate representation of India’s sovereignty. “Your English is impressive, but your patriotism is even more inspiring,” echoed voices across social media as Tharoor condemned international interference and stood firm on India’s stance against terrorism.
Tharoor’s presence on international platforms has given a new shine to India’s image, making it clear that political rivalry is secondary when national security is at stake. His message was simple but powerful: “There will be many opportunities to shine as a leader, but now is the time to stand up for the country.”
Patriotism Above All
The collective voices of Owaisi, Abdullah, and Tharoor have broken traditional political boundaries, bringing Indians together under one flag. Their statements have sent a powerful message that when it comes to the security and sovereignty of India, politics, religion, and personal ideologies take a back seat.
In a country often divided by political chess games and vote-bank strategies, their unity in crisis serves as a beacon of hope. They have reminded every Indian that the real essence of patriotism is to stand together when the nation needs it the most.
As Owaisi said, “We do not need certificates of patriotism from Pakistan. Indian Muslims are true soldiers of this land.” This moment of unity is a testament that the spirit of patriotism burns brightly, cutting across political divides and uniting India under the tricolor.
