
A 28-year-old man was killed after the BMW car he was driving rammed into a dumper on Atal Setu bridge in Mumbai, a Mumbai police official said, reported the PTI.
The incident took place at around 2:30 am some eight kilometres from the start of the bridge, the Sewri police station official said.
“A speeding BMW car going towards Panvel from Mumbai rammed into a dumper from the rear. Chembur resident Punit Singh Majra, who was driving the car, died on the spot. The impact was such that the dumper also swerved and hit the side railing of Atal Setu. The dumper driver too sustained injuries,” the official informed, according to the PTI.
A case has been registered at Sewri police station and further probe is underway, he added.
Woman, her brother killed as trailer truck hits two-wheeler
In an another incident in Palghar district of Maharashtra, a 25-year-old woman and her brother were killed in the district after their two-wheeler collided with a trailer truck, police said on Thursday, as per the PTI.
The accident took place on Tuesday night and the truck driver was absconding, said an official of Palghar police station.
Mangesh Vishwakarma (22) and his sister Pooja Vishwakarma (25) set out on a motorbike to eat ice cream after dinner on Tuesday. While returning home by the Palghar-Mahim Road, a trailer coming from the opposite direction at high speed collided with their bike, the official said, according to the PTI.
The two died on the spot, he said.
The impact of the collision left their bodies mangled, the official said.
An FIR has been registered against the absconding driver, he added, the news agency reported.
Meanwhile, two women were killed and five people were injured when a speeding pickup truck collided with their car on Friday in Rajasthan`s Bundi district, police said.
According to police, the victims were travelling to a temple in Sawai Madhopur district with a newlywed couple in a car.
The speeding pickup truck, coming from the opposite direction, rammed into the car and killed two people on the spot. Five people, including the newlywed couple, were injured in the accident, police said.
After the accident, the truck driver fled and left his vehicle behind.
Investigations were underway in the matter and efforts are on to nab the driver, officials said.
