Eicher Trucks and Buses, a business unit of VE Commercial Vehicles, announced today the commencement of supplying its Pro X electric trucks to Magenta Mobility. The logistics solutions provider has placed an initial order of 100 units, with phased deployment across Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
The first batch of Eicher Pro X small trucks, featuring 1.7-ton payload capacity, will support Magenta Mobility’s operations in these markets. Both companies aim to advance sustainable logistics and reduce carbon emissions in India’s supply chain.
S.S. Gill, Chief Commercial Officer of VE Commercial Vehicles, stated that the collaboration focuses on providing eco-friendly transportation solutions for mid-mile and last-mile delivery sectors. The Eicher Pro X range addresses the market demand for energy-efficient vehicles in these segments.
Maxson Lewis, Founder and CEO of Magenta Mobility, described the partnership as “a pivotal moment” in the company’s mission to transform last-mile logistics in India. Lewis emphasized that the collaboration enhances their capacity to deliver sustainable and reliable transportation solutions.
The Eicher Pro X range, which was unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, represents Eicher’s entry into the 2-3.5-ton segment. These vehicles were co-developed with logistics companies from e-commerce, FMCG, and courier services sectors. Features include air-conditioned cabins, advanced safety systems, and telematics integration with the ‘My Eicher’ app.
Magenta Mobility currently operates over 2,600 electric vehicles across more than 18 cities in India. The company continues to expand its fleet to meet growing demand for electric mobility in the logistics sector.
VE Commercial Vehicles Limited was established in 2008 as a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited. The company manufactures and sells Eicher branded trucks and buses in 40 countries, distributes Volvo Trucks in India, and produces engines for Volvo Group. Over the past 15 years, VECV has established itself in the commercial transportation industry in India and developing markets.
The commercial electric vehicle market in India has seen significant growth in recent years, driven by government initiatives promoting electric mobility and increasing corporate commitments to sustainability goals. The logistics sector, particularly last-mile delivery, has emerged as an early adopter of electric vehicles due to predictable routes and operational cost benefits.
