More information about Samsung’s first tri-fold handset has just surfaced, as the device seems to be ready to emulate another foldable from the company. A tipster known as PandaFlash X went to X in order to reveal several tidbits about the phone. Before we get into it, do take the information with a grain of salt.
Samsung’s first tri-fold could emulate the Galaxy Z Fold 7
He said that Samsung’s tri-fold handset is “confirmed”. So we guess he’s aiming on the fact that it’s finally coming, though he did not mention when exactly. Some rumors suggested that it could launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in July. We’ll see.
In any case, the tipster also mentioned that the speaker drivers are “the exact same as the Galaxy Z Fold 7”, and that they have the “same design cut-outs”. On top of that, he said that the hinge mechanism is also similar to what the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will offer. It will have one extra hinge, though, of course.
The last piece of information that he mentioned is that the company’s first tri-fold will have a “full-flat body like the Fold 7”. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be quite boxy, and this phone will seemingly follow the same design language.
Does this mean it will make an appearance at Samsung’s second Unpacked event?
Considering all these similarities between the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and this tri-fold device, presuming that the report is accurate, the phone could actually make an appearance during Samsung’s second Unpacked event of the year.
We’ve seen a ton of different rumors regarding this phone thus far. One of them, which arrived in April, claimed that the phone will not launch globally. Its release could be limited to Korea and China.
Furthermore, the phone is tipped to have rather slow charging. Based on the rumored info, the device will charge at 23W-24W, which, needless to say, is not particularly fast.
The Galaxy G Fold name was mentioned in one of the reports. If that ends up being the actual name of the device, it will be rather mundane. We’ll have to wait and see.
