Sundaram Clayton Limited (SCL), a prominent player in the aluminium die-casting sector, has reported a rise in profitability for the financial year 2024–25, along with significant operational milestones including the launch of a new mega casting facility in Chennai.
For the year ended March 2025, SCL recorded a revenue of ₹2,109.14 crore, slightly up from ₹2,096.97 crore in the previous year. The company’s operating EBITDA margin improved to 13.44%, compared to 12.78% in FY 2023–24. Profit before tax stood at ₹306.08 crore, aided by an exceptional gain of ₹196.69 crore, while profit after tax came in at ₹257.92 crore.
In the fourth quarter alone, the company reported a revenue of ₹524.54 crore, slightly lower than ₹532.32 crore in the same quarter of the previous year. However, the operating EBITDA margin saw a notable increase to 16.65%, up from 11.47% in Q4 FY24.
A key highlight for the year was the commencement of full-scale operations at the Thervoy Kandigai Plant (TKP) in Chennai. Launched in January 2025, the facility is now the largest die-casting cluster in India, integrating high-pressure, low-pressure, and gravity die-casting technologies under one roof, alongside finished machining capabilities. The smart manufacturing setup incorporates robotic cells, automated storage and retrieval systems, and autonomous mobile robots, making it a fully digital and connected facility.
The TKP is designed to support future mega-die presses (6000T to 9000T) and will cater to global OEMs with components for powertrain, chassis, structural, and lightweighting applications. The company is also consolidating its operations by relocating its Mahindra World City and Oragadam facilities to this new hub.
In another strategic move, SCL executed a business transfer agreement in March 2025 with Sandhar Ascast Private Limited for the sale of its Hosur plant’s low-pressure and low-tonnage die-casting operations. The transaction, structured as a slump sale, includes the transfer of land and is accounted for under exceptional income.
Internationally, SCL continues to strengthen its presence in North America. Supplies have commenced from a newly commissioned 4400-tonne die-casting machine in the U.S., aimed at supporting commercial vehicle manufacturers in the region.
Founded in 1962, Sundaram Clayton remains a key contributor to the global automotive supply chain, delivering precision-engineered aluminium die-cast components for commercial and passenger vehicles, with a growing emphasis on innovation and sustainability.
