Tenneco, a global automotive supplier, has appointed Arvind Chandra as Chief Executive Officer of its India operations, the company announced Tuesday. Chandra will oversee all divisions under Tenneco India, including Clean Air, Monroe Ride Solutions, Champion Ignition, and Powertrain businesses.
The appointment comes as Tenneco continues to position India as a strategic growth market within its global operations. Chandra brings decades of automotive sector experience from previous leadership roles at Delphi, Wabco, Faurecia (now Forvia), and Minda Corporation. He most recently served as India CEO for Aliaxis Group.
“India continues to be a critical growth engine for Tenneco,” said Jim Voss, CEO of Tenneco. “Arvind’s leadership, global perspective, and deep understanding of the Indian automotive ecosystem will help us scale further, innovate faster, and deliver greater value to our customers and partners across the region.”
Rishi Verma, President of Tenneco India, will report directly to Chandra while continuing to lead day-to-day operations. Verma will also take on expanded responsibilities for Tenneco’s piston, rings and valve seats and guides businesses within the company’s Powertrain solutions division in India.
Under Chandra’s leadership, the company plans to accelerate business growth, drive innovation in lightweight and cost-effective solutions for the region, and position India as a global hub for manufacturing and cross-functional excellence.
Tenneco has steadily expanded its presence in India over the past decade, reflecting the country’s growing importance in the global automotive supply chain. The Indian automotive components industry has experienced significant growth, with the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) reporting that the sector’s turnover reached $57 billion in the 2023-24 fiscal year, contributing approximately 2.3% to India’s GDP.
Tenneco operates multiple manufacturing facilities across India, supporting both domestic and international customers. The company designs, manufactures, and markets automotive products for original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers through its DRiV, Performance Solutions, Clean Air and Powertrain groups.
