Just when a spectre of fear has returned to Jammu and Kashmir following a terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, an exhibition at a gallery in Ahmedabad is offering glimpses of it from its pre-Independence days of glory. A series of pictures, put up in black and white, taken by celebrated photographer late Pranlal Patel, was inaugurated on May 1 at Satya Art Gallery, Navjivan Press. The exhibits chronicle Patel’s visit to Kashmir in 1940 “showcasing Kashmir untouched , serene and sublime”, according to a statement. His legacy of seven decades has been preserved by his sons Anand and Gautam, even after his death in 2014.
