Aurangazeb gives maximum publicity to Suriya’s Retro

Suriya’s Retro is slated to hit the cinemas on May 1st. The other day, at the film’s pre-release event in Hyderabad, Vijay Deverakonda was asked what he would do if he could travel back in time. His answer was this: “Recently, while watching Chhaava (Hindi), I got infuriated over Aurangazeb. If I had a chance, I would like to travel back in time and thrash him.” Incidentally, Chhaava features Rashmika Mandanna, VD’s rumoured girlfriend.

The video clip has been widely shared and commented upon by audiences from the Hindi belt. Social media users from the non-Telugu States are convinced that Vijay Deverakonda deserves applause. “No Bollywoodia dares to speak like this,” Sunanda Roy, an X user wrote.

In a way, the viral video clip has afforded more publicity to Retro than any of the speeches delivered by the film’s team.

Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, co-stars Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Jayaram, Karunakaran and others. Its music is done by Santhosh Narayanan.
