Ahead of the NEET-UG exam on May 4, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has set up a portal to report “suspicious claims” regarding the examination.
Users can report suspicious activities under three categories — unauthorised websites or social media accounts claiming access to the NEET-UG paper, individuals claiming access to exam content, and impersonators posing as NTA or government officials. The link to report such activities is available on the NTA website.
The step comes after the exam was marred by a paper leak last year, which brought the NTA and the public exams under scrutiny. The CBI probe had found that NEET-UG papers were allegedly stolen from in Jharkhand, photographed, solved and then sent to those who paid for them.
The NTA said on Saturday that its initiative aligns with the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. The Act was passed by Parliament in February last year, and the Centre notified rules under the Act in June. For offences under the Act, it provides for fines of `1 crore and up to 10 years in prison.
