55 year old Palghar man kills wife over suspicion of extramarital affair

A 55 year old man from Maharashtra`s Palghar district has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife after suspecting her of having an affair with another man, said the officials on Thursday.

The woman`s body, then unidentified, was found in Naresh Patil Wadi in Virar area on Tuesday. The dead body was found at a farmhouse with a bloodstained stone lying nearby at and was then sent for postmortem.
 
Senior police inspector Shahuraj Ranavare said that, some locals later told the police that the woman was frequently seen collecting scrap in the area, as per PTI reports. 
 
As the probe intensified further, the police identified the woman, aged 50. She was a resident of Nagya Katkari Pada near Phoolpada Road in Virar, he said.
 
While the family members were questioned, some inconsistencies were revealed in their statements, especially in her husband`s account.
 
After questioning him again and again, the man revealed that he suspected of his wife having an affair with another man in the locality, due to which they had frequent quarrels, the official said.
 
As per PTI, the woman left home late Monday night, but she never returned back. 
 
Her husband later searched for her and discovered her sleeping at a farm in the Naresh Patil Wadi area.
 
An official informed that the man and the wife had a heated argument and the woman refused to return home with her husband. The man in a fit of rage, allegedly picked up a heavy stone lying nearby and struck her with it multiple times before returning home.  As per the officials, the woman died on spot. 
 
The police held the man on April 23, Wednesday and then registered a case against him under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 103(1) (murder), he said.
 
Meanwhile, a few days back, police arrested a 23-year-old man within hours of him stabbing a person to death over a dispute in Maharashtra`s Thane district, reported news agency PTI. 

Based on a tip-off, the police apprehended the accused, Gurav Kiran Udanshive, in connection with the murder that occurred in Ulhasnagar town late on Thursday night, Thane police PRO Sailesh Salvi said while sharing an update on the Thane crime, reported PTI.

The police were alerted about a man being attacked with a sharp weapon on a road. A team reached the scene and took the victim, Bharat Shayamlal Duseja (35), to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

Duseja had multiple stab wounds on his face, neck, and chest, he said while sharing an update on the Thane crime.

A case was registered against unidentified persons under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and Maharashtra Police Act, the official said while sharing an update on the Thane crime, reported PTI.

The accused, a resident of Indira Nagar in Ulhasnagar, attempted to flee the town with his wife and was nabbed from Kalyan railway station within five hours of the killing, he said, reported PTI.
