Versatile music composer MM Keeravani and playback singer Sunitha have come in for allegations from budding singer Pravasthi. As per Pravasthi, they resorted to body-shaming as judges of Padutha Theeyaga, the popular TV show.
“Whenever I walked on the stage, their facial expressions would tell their dislike for me. They would show disgust for some reason. I felt demoralized. When other singers chose a song, their choice was approved. But my choices were not. They would ask me to choose some other song,” Pravasthi said.
Pravasthi stated that Keeravani appreciated her singing talent in the first two episodes. “But things changed once it was time for elimination. Chandrabose garu never lost an opportunity to point out my mistakes. But he ignored the mistakes made by others,” Pravasthi remarked.
Keeravani allegedly asked her not to sing at weddings, saying that would be demeaning. “He openly remarked that he hates such singers. I sing at weddings and in functions because my financial position is not strong. His comments hurt me. Keeravani sir is biased in favour of those singers who pick his songs. He once said that singers who come 5th on the Padutha Theeyaga show would be given the opportunity to do ‘chakiri’ for him. Isn’t it disrespectful?” Pravasthi asked.
