E-commerce marketplace Flipkart has officially ended its Work From Home (WFH) policy, mandating employees to return to office five days a week. The WFH arrangement, which had been in place for five years, has now been discontinued. The company stated that the decision is part of its “natural progression post-COVID” and aligns with the phased return to office that has been underway for over a year.
“At Flipkart, the vast majority of our employees and contractual gig workers have always operated from their respective locations of work,” an official statement. “We have been pursuing a gradual return to the office (similar to pre-COVID levels) for the past year and have seen increased interactions, synergies and deeper collaboration across teams.
The company also noted that a return to office will build a strong sense of community among employees and align everyone towards shared goals.
Flipkart had adopted the WFH model in 2020 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure employee safety. Following the outbreak, the company transitioned to a hybrid model, introducing a three-day work week. Over time, senior officials and upper-level management were asked to increase their presence in office.
