The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) processed 16 million transactions in March up about 10 per cent compared to 14.6 million transactions in February. Overall the Network crossed the 204 million-mark in terms of cumulative transactions by March-end. The seller and service provider base on the network has also expanded to over 7.6 lakh reflecting growing participation from partners across sectors and geographies.

New network participants have onboarded across sectors such as grocery, food and beverages, logistics, financial services and MSMEs in the March quarter.

A note shared by ONDC indicated that in the grocery sector, it has onboarded new brands and buyer apps during the March quarter. “Notably, Haldiram’s Nagpur joined the network and crossed 10,000 transactions, largely driven by demand from apps such as Bajaj Finserv, DigiHaat, and Paytm. This success story is shaping up as a model for other direct-to-consumer brands on the network,” ONDC stated. In the food and beverages segments too, brands such as Amma’s Pastries in Bengaluru and EverBake in Delhi went live on the network.

In the logistics category too, the Network saw strong growth on the back of new players getting onboarded. This included Lokendra, which has a fleet size of over 200 in Mumbai and Delhi besides Ekta in Mumbai and Pune. This strengthened ONDC’s hyperlocal logistics capabilities, it added

In the credit segment, over 5,000 personal loan applications were recorded in the credit segment over the network and “significant progress” in the mutual fund and insurance segments.

“A landmark achievement was recorded in collaboration with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, which facilitated over 3.5 lakh orders on Women’s Day through SHG women sellers from the SERP (Society of Elimination of Rural Poverty) and MEPMA (Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas) departments. This initiative not only set a record for daily orders but also highlighted ONDC’s potential for enabling livelihoods and economic empowerment for women entrepreneurs in rural and urban areas,” ONDC stated.
