During her recent visit to the Slovak Republic, President Droupadi Murmu at an event in Constantine the Philosopher University, where she was conferred with a Honoris Causa Doctorate degree, distributed chocolates among the students. Later, at the city park in Sihot, Nitra, where she planted a Linden tree — the national tree of Slovakia — jointly with her Slovakian counterpart Peter Pellergini, she again gave chocolates to the audience. Seeing this, Pellergini also extended his hand asking for sweets. When Murmu gave him a few, Nitra Mayor Marek Hattas also wanted some and Murmu obliged him, too.
Meeting Expectations
Soon after Tahawwur Rana’s extradition from the US last week, officers in the NIA were expecting that there will be no quarterly review meeting on Wednesday, only to be informed otherwise on Monday. The agency has also called its officers from states to come with visual presentations for discussions with their seniors. Apart from the quarterly meetings, the agency also holds monthly reviews, a practice introduced since Sadanand Vasant Date took charge as the DG last year.
Special Screening
A third hall that was booked as a backup during the special pre-release screening of actor Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ at a multiplex in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri on Tuesday came in handy as over 650 people turned up for the event. Hosted by Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, the screening was attended by Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, along with some of her Cabinet colleagues; some members of the cast of the film, including R Madhavan; diplomats, bureaucrats and journalists. Security personnel of the dignitaries could also make it to the halls.
