On Tuesday, Bharti Airtel announced a strategic partnership with Blinkit, enabling users to get a SIM card delivered to their doorstep, which they can activate themselves using the Aadhaar-powered self-Know Your Customer (KYC) process. Users can order both prepaid and postpaid SIM cards, and can even request a SIM card to port from a different network to Airtel using the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) method.

To perform self-KYC, users will need an Aadhaar number and a phone number linked to it. For those opting for MNP, the porting process can take up to three working days. However, if a user chooses to get a new number, it will be activated instantly.
The SIM card is priced at Rs 49, and Blinkit users in Mumbai can receive one in under 10 minutes. In the first phase, the service will be available across 16 major cities in India, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, and more.
To further ease the activation process, Airtel has set up a dedicated support line, and users can also get assistance via the Airtel Thanks app. Airtel has specified that the delivered SIM card must be activated within 15 days of delivery. This service eliminates the need to visit a store to obtain an Airtel SIM card, especially catering to the tech-savvy crowd.
