Tahawwur Rana News | Tahawwur Rana India Extradition Live Updates: A Delhi court on Thursday received the trial records related to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks ahead of the arrival of alleged mastermind Tahawwur Hussain Rana from the United States, according to court sources. Security has been tightened outside Delhi’s Patiala House Court as Rana is expected to be produced here following his extradition. A team comprising senior officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and intelligence agencies has taken custody of Rana, who is expected to reach Delhi today. Rana is expected to be housed in a high-security ward at Tihar Jail in Delhi, according to prison sources.

The role of Rana in 26/11 terror attacks: Investigations by Indian agencies have revealed that Rana played a crucial role in supporting David Coleman Headley, who conducted reconnaissance for the attacks. Rana allegedly facilitated Headley by opening a Mumbai branch of his firm, “First World Immigration Services,” in 2006, providing Headley with a legitimate cover to survey target locations. A supplementary chargesheet filed in 2023 states that Rana visited India shortly before the attacks and stayed in a five-star hotel from November 11 to 21, 2008. The attacks began on November 26. Authorities have also cited emails from Headley to Rana seeking directions, highlighting Rana’s role as a conduit between Headley and Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI. The 2008 attacks resulted in the deaths of 166 people, including six Americans, during a 60-hour siege carried out by ten Pakistani terrorists across key locations in Mumbai.

How is the weather in Delhi today? The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday forecast cloudy skies over the next two days, accompanied by very light rain or drizzle. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected, along with strong surface winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph, up to 50 kmph. By Saturday, the sky is likely to turn partly cloudy, clearing up further over the weekend. Delhiites have been grappling with an unusually intense summer, with power demand soaring to record highs. The upcoming change in weather could bring some much-needed respite.
